About the extension

ZweiPunkt Accessibility automatically improves the accessibility of your storefront. As soon as the plugin is active, it checks every page directly in the visitor's browser and fixes many of the most common barriers, without you having to adjust templates or maintain any settings.

The goal is a shop that people with impairments can use comfortably, whether with a screen reader, with the keyboard only or with other assistive technology.

What the plugin improves

• Image descriptions: Images without alternative text receive a replacement text taken from the stored title, or from the file name as a fallback. Screen readers no longer skip the image without comment.
• Form labels: Input fields without a recognisable label are named from placeholder, title or field name, so screen readers can announce what they are for.
• Empty buttons and links: Controls without text receive a label taken from title, image description or target address.
• Heading structure: Gaps in the heading hierarchy are smoothed out so the outline stays consistent.
• Technical markup: Faulty information for screen readers is cleaned up so no contradictory details are announced.
• Landmarks: Header, navigation, main content and footer are marked as regions.
• Hidden areas: Content hidden from screen readers, as well as duplicated slides in image galleries, is removed from the tab order. Keyboard navigation no longer runs into dead ends.
• Keyboard operation: Clickable elements become reachable by keyboard. The active element is clearly highlighted and scrolled into view when needed.

Fully automatic in the background

The plugin works without touching your templates. It also monitors content that only appears during the visit, such as when opening a menu or loading more products, and improves it as well.

When operating with the keyboard, the active element is clearly framed; when using the mouse, this highlight stays invisible. The plugin does not change your theme's colours, spacing or layout.

Please note

The plugin automatically fixes many common weaknesses and is a good foundation for a more accessible shop. It does not replace a full review against the applicable legal requirements.

The automatically generated descriptions are in German. In non-German sales channels, affected elements therefore receive German texts. This only concerns elements for which no label is stored in the theme at all. An alternative text maintained in the media manager, or a label set in the template, always takes precedence and is left untouched.
